Post Procedural Advice

Permanent makekup procedures are affected by the characteristics of your skin. If your skin is sun damaged (even from tanning beds), thick and uneven in texture, or excessively dry or oily, the result cannot be expected to be perfect after the initial procedure. Lifestyle, medications, smoking, metabolism, facial surgery, scar tissue, and age of skin all contribute to pigment retention and fading.


The healing process will take a minimum of 4 weeks, which is the average time it takes for cell turnover. It is highly recommended that a touchup be performed 4-6 weeks after your initial procedure. This ensures the best result, and keeps your makeup looking its best. How you follow your after care directions will have a big impact on your outcome.

Post Procedural Care

Avoid oily, salty, acidic foods, alcohol, and whitening tooth paste for the first 4-5 days.

Avoid "licking your lips"

Avoid sun, pools, and swimming in any natural water until completely healed

Brush your teeth with just water for the first 72 hours post treatment

After Care Lips

Your procedure maintenance, as outlined in your post procedure care, is very important.

  • Apply after care ointment to your lips several times a day for 14 days. Do not let them become dry, it may interfere with the color retention
  • Always use a clean Q-tip for ointment application, tap ointment in do not rub it in (This will reduce the risk of secondary infection.)
  • Use a clean pillowcase after procedure
  • Once lips are healed apply a lip balm with UV protection
  • Do not use any Glycolic Hydroxy or fruit acid products on the lips
  • No makeup until completely healed

What to Expect

Swelling, tenderness, with a heavy thick lipstick look that has a reddish brick color effect

As time progresses, slight swelling, appear reddish and tender with a slight metallic flavor

Less swelling, thicker texture, sore, hot feeling before exfoliation with an orange effect.

Exfoliation begins and lips appear very chapped, this is the first chapping stage.

A soft, rich color begins to appear.

Lip color disappears within 7 to 13 days and the "frosty" (2nd chapping) stage begins as a whitish/grayish haze on the lips.

Color "blooms" from within more and more each day until six weeks post procedure.

Healing is complete. The color you see is the color you have. However, lips remain a bit dry for a month or two. Treat with lip balm
